Installation of two new large fibre ducts has been completed at the IceColo Manchester datacentre.
To cope with increasing demand for connectivity diversity and capacity in the datacentre, additional fibre duct capacity has been installed at the datacentre. To avoid the need to repeatedly dig up the road for every new cable, ductwork is buried underground - in which fibre cables are pulled into the datacentre when needed.
Kingston Communications (KCOM) will be the first telecoms company to install their cable in this new ductwork, with a 1000Mbps private Ethernet circuit to a customer's site in Milton Keynes.
Network operators present in the IceColo datacentre include GlobalAXS, KCOM, BT, Virgin Media and AT&T
